NH Journal: NH Right to Work Bill Moves Toward Senate Passage

NH Journal's Chris Maidment reports:

"New Hampshire’s right-to-work bill is poised to pass the Senate Commerce Committee soon, after hours of testimony Tuesday..."

The efforts on behalf of the bill by your New England Citizens for Right to Work were highlighted:

“Good unions don’t need forced dues, and bad unions don’t deserve them,” said McKayne Boedeker, executive director of Citizens for Right to Work. Testifying in support of the bill, Boedeker said, “this would guarantee the rights of workers to decide whether a labor union has earned their financial support.”

The article also addresses a problem all too common in New Hampshire: union bosses running for the legislature themselves, and ultimately holding both offices at the same time. Despite the clear conflicts of interest, such union bosses will get paid a forced-dues-funded salary by the labor union, and -- at the same time -- vote against Right to Work, and otherwise use their legislative positions to preserve their own power to force people to pay them. Maidment reports:

"Senator Kevin Cavanaugh (D-Manchester) declared a conflict as a board member of the AFL-CIO NH, but he refused to recuse himself."
