Senate Committee Hearing for Right to Work

Covering the State Senate Commerce Committee hearing on S.B. 61 -- the New Hampshire Right to Work Bill -- for the New Hampshire Union Leader, Kevin Landrigan reports:

"CONCORD — Business and political leaders on Tuesday pushed to make New Hampshire the first state in the Northeast to outlaw private-sector collective bargaining agreements requiring employees to pay dues or cover a union’s negotiating costs.

The Right-to-Work bill’s prospects improved in November when Republicans regained control of the Legislature and Gov. Chris Sununu, a Right-to-Work supporter, was reelected by a 2-1 margin.

“This would guarantee the rights of workers to decide whether a labor union has earned their financial support,” said McKayne Boedeker, executive director of New England Citizens for Right to Work. “Good unions don’t need forced dues, and bad unions don’t deserve them.”
