Rest in Peace, Franklin Partin Jr.

New England Citizens for Right to Work is saddened to announce the passage of Franklin Partin Jr. of New Boston -- the organization's longtime president, a tireless champion for New Hampshire workers, and a good man.

An Air Force and Korean War veteran, Frank always served his country when it needed him. In 1973, Frank was working for Philco-Ford -- at what is now the New Boston Space Force Station -- when the facility was targeted and “organized”  by the International Association of Machinists union (IAM/AFL-CIO). 

Frank was active in a local Christian congregation that considered it morally wrong to join a labor union, but the union had secured a forced-membership clause in its contract. The local union boss rebuffed Frank’s attempts to reach a compromise, demeaned his faith, and had him fired. 

With a newfound appreciation for the importance of worker freedom, Partin got involved in the New England Citizens for Right to Work network, ultimately rising to serve as its President and primary spokesman. He worked tirelessly in the distinctly-unglamorous work of grassroots politics, motivated by the hope that future generations might enjoy freedom of conscience in a way that he himself was denied.
